Girls in Tech Boise Lunch & Learns
The Boise, Idaho chapter of Girls in Tech is excited to announce a new local mentorship program called “Lunch & Learns”.
Lunch & Learns are an opportunity for Girls in Tech members to share their experiences working in technology with area High School female students over pizza during their lunch hour.
The program is designed to give women a forum to share their stories of working in the industry with impressionable young women. The goal of the program is to demonstrate to these girls that incredible career opportunities that await them. Additionally, girls are able to see real-world examples of women working in the industry and can break through some of the tradionally “geek” stereotypes that often keep them from pursuing rewarding careers in tech.
Speakers tell students about how they got started in the field, what challenges they have encountered along the way, and what excites them about working with tech. There is a chance to display and present real projects they are working on and discuss the ins and outs of working in the field.
Lunch & Learns are an excellent opportunity to volunteer in the community and mentor up-and-coming technologists. Young women are given the chance to ask questions and learn more about what it is really like to have a career in technology.
